Yesterday, April 7th, finally Gnome 3.0 arrived. As the staff of the Gnome was always blogging about all the recent development, we did not have many surprises beyond what we already knew.
Beyond that, there was an update at the project web page. Now it features some videos showing how to use the new Gnome. For more videos you can visit the Youtube chanel and don’t forget to follow Gnome at twitter and Identica. For those who use Ubuntu 11.04 and want to test it, is easy:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
$ sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
In case you don’t get used to it and want to remove, just follow these commands:
$ sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
$ sudo ppa-purge ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
For the curious and insecure, there is a live version (based in fedora or openSuSe) which can be downloaded in the Gnome 3.0 Download Page and can run in a CD/DVD or a USB stick. Visit the page for more instructions.
